PRIDE

PRIDE Youth Programs' vision is a world where safe, drug-free youth are equipped to lead healthy, productive lives. PRIDE Youth Programs' mission is to educate, promote and support drug-free youth who care for the health and safety of self, peers, family and community.

PRIDE Youth Programs (PYP) is one of the largest and oldest peer-to-peer youth drug and violence prevention organizations in the world. With programs for youth of all ages, PYP is widely known for its performing arts component, in addition to community service, drug-free activity planning, and drug education.

There are four levels of PRIDE youth programs developed: PRIDE Unlimited, America's PRIDE, Club PRIDE, and PRIDE Pals. PYP's purpose is to encourage youth participation and provide programming to continue to reach PYP's goal of supporting safe and drug-free youth.

PRIDE Youth Programs reaches to youth from all backgrounds and every developmental stage as they make their way from elementary school through college. Youth who participate at every level pledge to be drug-free and deliver a strong no-use message to their peers and community. The programs they use focus on the four philosophies of PRIDE: 1) Youth should be drug-free; 2) Youth should develop an overall healthy lifestyle; 3) Programs carry a positive approach to prevention; and 4) Programs view youth as resources.

Prime For Life

PRIME For Life is an alcohol and drug program for people of all ages. It is designed to gently but powerfully challenge common beliefs and attitudes that directly contribute to high-risk alcohol and drug use. The program goals are to reduce the risk for health problems and impairment problems.

A primary goal of PRIME For Life is prevention of any type of alcohol or drug problem. This includes prevention of health problems such as alcoholism, or impairment problems such as car crashes or fights. Emphasis is on knowing and understanding risks one cannot change and reducing risks one can change.

The carefully selected, research-based information also provides the credibility needed to promote change.

Student Intervention Programs

The Bulloch Alcohol and Drug Council provides intervention classes for students who have violated Board of Education alcohol/drug policies and for young people from the court system who are on probation for underage drinking, DUI, or similar offenses. The council also provides chemical dependency education at the Regional Youth Development Center in Claxton, Georgia.
