Red Ribbon Campaign
The Governor's Red Ribbon Campaign is held each October throughout the states. As a community
coordinator for the campaign, the Bulloch County Alcohol and Drug Council encourages citizens to
wear or display red ribbons to help create awareness of abuse problems and celebrate drug free
living. There is a kickoff luncheon in August, and there is a poster contest, a T-shirt contest,
and a Banner contest.
PRIDE
PRIDE (Parents' Resource Institute for Drug Education) has earned an international reputation for
excellence and reliability as a provider of prevention services in the area of alcohol and other
drugs. Founded in 1977 by Thomas J. Gleaton, Jr., Ed.D. and Marsha Keith Schuchard, Ph.D., PRIDE
began as a parents organization and went on to expand its base to serve youth. The organization
has evolved into what is now known as PRIDE Youth Programs.
A vision. A plan. Solutions. PRIDE Youth Programs focuses the energy of young people who can create real solutions to build a safe & drug-free world. Parents, adults and community members offer guidance and support to serious teams of youth dedicated to making a difference. PRIDE youth programs are exciting, fun and an important part of growing up for thousands of young people. Prime For Life Student Intervention Programs
The Bulloch Alcohol and Drug Council provides intervention classes for students who have violated
Board of Education alcohol/drug policies and for young people from the court system who are on
probation for underage drinking, DUI, or similar offenses. The council also provides chemical
dependency education at the Regional Youth Development Center in Claxton, Georgia. |
